Calgary, August 21, 2012 – The Calgary chapter of the Canadian Public Relations Society along with the Communications + Public Relations Foundation have announced the creation of a new scholarship, the Susan Francis Prize in Public Relations/Communications. The $1000 Susan Francis Prize will be awarded annually to a student studying in his or her final year of public relations/communications in a recognized program at one of Mount Royal University, the University of Calgary, or SAIT Polytechnic.
Students applying will submit an entry based on volunteer experience or a proposal of how communications can be implemented to benefit a specific organization. The project should be created with the main purpose in mind; making the world a better place.
The first submission deadline for the application is October 15, 2012, with a winner determined by a jury of senior public relations professionals and announced by December 1.
Application forms are now available on the CPRS Calgary website and should be sent electronically to the Communications + Public Relations Foundation at foundation@prmediaconnection.com.
The Prize is inspired by the late Susan Francis who had a remarkable career in professional communications and dedicated her life to implementing programs of action for causes she was passionate about. The Prize has been established by the Francis family in Susan’s memory.
