As we move into late fall, we are faced with an interesting environment in Alberta – a challenging economy and new provincial and federal governments. These changes can cause uncertainty and it can affect our day-to-day lives in many ways. Now, more than ever, it is important to leverage your membership in CPRS and CPRS Calgary to help you navigate through the changes.
CPRS has a multitude of resources that can help you – whether it’s learning and development through our local chapter PD events; enhancing your network by volunteering on a committee and helping your local society remain strong and provide valuable member services; or reaching out to colleagues and sharing information, CPRS Calgary can help along the way.
We have a number of committees that are looking for help to provide valuable resources, services and programming to our members, and there is no better time to get involved.
And don’t forget that now may be the perfect time to enhance your commitment to the profession by embarking on the accreditation process. Accreditation identifies practitioners who have depth of experience and competence in the professional practice of public relations. The deadline for applications for Accreditation is December 1. For newer members to the profession, the Public Relations Knowledge Exam (PRK) tests your knowledge of PR fundamentals, critical thinking and writing skills.
Watch for upcoming events and make sure you take advantage of all the benefits your CPRS Calgary membership offers.
If you have ideas that you’d like CPRS Calgary to consider or have ideas you’d like to share, please contact me, or any of the committee chairs. We are always eager to hear from you!
