CPRS Calgary Message from the President – Stay Connected
Connections is one of my big focuses for the 2017-18 year. As I mentioned in a previous blog post, CPRS Calgary is here to be a connector, to be a collaborator. We are here to support you and help you succeed in the communications industry.
A big part of this theme includes connecting with each other. CPRS Calgary strives to facilitate connections by offering a variety of valuable professional development opportunities and events where members can meet to network and participate in discussions. As we learned in November’s The Future of Public Relations event with Daniel Tisch, to be able to connect is more important for our industry now, than ever.
One of the points in Dan’s paper and presentation was that the future of PR isn’t just about content; it’s about relationships. He discussed that PR must claim higher ground; that we should act as stewards of the organization’s relationship and reputation with each of its publics. Taking this a step further, I believe that we must apply this approach with each other. We must elevate the relationships within CPRS Calgary and stay connected with one another. Together, we’ll raise our collective reputations and provide more value than ever.
So, as a new CPRS Calgary season begins, I encourage you to stay involved, offer feedback, be a mentor, join the discussions, and volunteer. Let’s continue to #ElevatePR while we connect and elevate one another.
Melanie Simmons
2017/18 CPRS Calgary President
