In his professional life, Gord Hawker works with businesses and organizations of all sizes to develop and implement creative, effective marketing and communications strategies that generate demand and drive business growth. A results-driven marketing and communications leader, Gord has amassed more than 30 years of progressively more senior marketing communications experience across a wide range of industries including: SaaS software and technology, oil and gas, tourism and economic development, legal and professional services, public and post-secondary education, municipal and provincial government services, and agri-business.

Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Gord graduated with a B.A. – Advanced (English and History) from the University of Saskatchewan. His involvement with CPRS began in the early 1990s when he became a member of CPRS Saskatoon Chapter, eventually joining the local Board as Treasurer for six years and achieving the APR – Accredited in Public Relations designation. Moving to Calgary in 2001, Gord took on the Treasurer’s role on the CPRS Calgary Board from 2001 through 2005. After a hiatus from CPRS, Gord rejoined the organization in 2017. He then began serving as President and Executive Director for two years and is pleased to now be a part of the current CPRS Calgary Board as Past-President.

Gord and Maureen, his wife of 30+ years, are enjoying a taste of the empty-nester lifestyle with their two daughters now away at university. In addition to travel, Gord enjoys downhill skiing, golf, and camping. He also enjoys singing lead with his mixed barbershop quartet, MQ.
