Three weeks after moving from Halifax to Calgary in 2013, Cassie joined the Alberta Energy Regulator’s (AER’s) communications team. Her job was to do something she’s done since childhood—tell a good story. But, as the saying goes, all good things come to an end, and in September 2020, Cassie left the AER to join Suncor’s external communications team.

While it’s true, there is no place like home, finding her place in Alberta has been a rewarding and enriching transition. Cassie’s career has taken her further and allowed her to grow and experience more than she imagined, which includes earning her Accreditation in Public Relations from the Canadian Public Relations Society in 2018.

Before moving west, Cassie spent four years helping Nova Scotians “understand what their government [was doing] and why” with Communications Nova Scotia. She has also worked with Michelin North America, the Nova Scotia School Boards Association, and the Nova Scotia Construction Safety Association.

Cassie holds a Bachelor or Arts from Saint Mary’s University, an Advanced Diploma in public relations from Nova Scotia Community College and a Diploma from the paralegal program at Maritime Business College.
